In the green heart of Portugal lies the village of Folques.

This is a small and peaceful village, just 8 minutes away from the town of Arganil. In Arganil, you`ll find all the amenities for a carefree holiday in our beautiful house, Casa Toupeira.

In Arganil, you can find everything, from various bakeries, a butcher, to several large supermarkets like Lidl, Continente, and Intermarché for your daily groceries. You can also explore various restaurants and terraces in Arganil.

In the center of the village, you`ll find La Romana, where you can enjoy the tastiest ice cream and crêpes. Our house is situated in the beautiful Folques on 9000m3 and is completely fenced so that children and pets can roam freely.

Here, you`ll find a delightful playset and trampoline for the children, and there`s more than enough space for activities like a game of football!

There is also a private pool measuring over 10mx4m for hours of water fun.

The village of Folques is literally in central Portugal, offering numerous possibilities for activities or a day out.

A day trip to Serra de Estrela is just under an hour`s drive from Casa Toupeira, with its highest peak `Torre,` which is the highest mountain in Portugal.

Serra de Estrela is the largest mountain range and also a nature park on the mainland of Portugal. In winter, you can even go skiing here.

Also, within an hour`s drive, you`ll find the university city of Coimbra. With its rich history, and also great for a day of shopping in the many large shopping centers that Coimbra has to offer.

For a lovely day at the beach, Figueira da Foz, one of the largest seaside resorts in Portugal with its long white beaches, is about 1.15 hours away.

At 1.5 hours away, you`ll find the city of Tomar, the so-called city of the Templars, with its great artistic and cultural wealth. The city`s calling card is the Convento de Cristo, one of the most important Portuguese Renaissance buildings. Closer to Casa Toupeira, you`ll find several river beaches where you can easily spend a whole day on a warm day.

A few minutes` walk from the house, you`ll find the river beach of Folques; Passo e Fico, which opens its doors from April to October. Here, you can take a refreshing dip in the river-filled natural pool. You can also enjoy snacks and drinks here and occasionally listen to live music. Relax in the hammocks or use the BBQ on the premises.

In Arganil, you`ll find the Acor TT beer tasting. This is a local brewery where you can taste different types of beer.

For the sports enthusiasts, Crossbox Açor can be found just 5 minutes away by car. Here, daily crossfit classes are offered, and you are welcome to join. For adrenaline junkies, Trans Serrano organizes a water hike in Góis. This includes a slide, jumping off rocks, and swimming down the river. In addition, Trans Serrano organizes all kinds of fun activities for various ages. This is about 20 minutes by car.

In the same village of Góis, you`ll find Praia Fluvial da Paneda. A cozy river beach, very suitable for children, with many shaded spots on the terraces. The village of Penacova is also worth a visit. You can reach it in fifteen minutes and at Café Turismo, you can enjoy not only a cup of coffee but also the spectacular view.

Also near Penacova, you`ll find Moinhos de Gavinhos. Old historical mills, on top of the mountain. 15 minutes` drive from Casa Toupeira, you`ll find Praia Fluvial de Coja. Another very nice river beach with beautiful clear water and even a diving board for a refreshing swim! Every Thursday, there is a versatile market in Arganil, and in the center of Arganil, you`ll find the tourist office where you can go with all your questions and wishes. Also, it`s important to know that there is a hospital in Arganil. In short, at Casa Toupeira, you`ll find something for everyone to enjoy a fantastic holiday.
